So who wants to read another book...

I've been thinking about our "book club" and really want to try and get things going again. So...if you are still checking this blog...does anyone have a good book we could all read? At the end I think it would be fun for everyone to contribute just a few thoughts. I have been reading several books lately so I think this could be fun. Thoughts????

Prayers Please(:

Can I make a non-book related post? yes? Ok great thanks(: I posted on my blog but wasn't sure how many of you check that so just wanted to ask for your prayers- we have our 3rd Insemination tomorrow at 9:15. Kris, thanks for calling.. sorry haven't had a chance to call ya back.. but yes, the shots went well. I wrote about them on my blog.. with some lovely pics of Andy getting the shots ready(: Love you all and I am going to get the shack this weekend! Glad everyone is enjoying it so far! Love you all!!!

P.S. I added the link to Chandler's blog, mine, and Christina I tried to do yours but it wouldn't work?? I guess because you don't use blogspot? If anyone else has one let me know and I will add you.

PPS. Also, I gave all of you administrator rights so anyone should be able to change the layout or make any changes you need to etc.

Shooting Down Our Stereotypes...

Wow! All I can say is "Wow!" What a phenomenal book...Kris, I was the same as you - I picked it up on Sunday, started it on Monday, and was finished by yesterday afternoon - simply could not put it down. And, I also agree with Kris's comment in that I want to skim it again with a highlighter this time because some of the comments were so profound that I want to know where to find them later! For instance, one of my favorites was on page 100 of "The Shack" - where God is talking about Jesus - whoa what a revelation for those of you who have read it - I can't wait till we all have read it so we can discuss it!!! I also loved how this book totally changed every idea I had of God and the Trinity and basically shot down all the stereotypes we have in our head to reveal a much different, much more relate-able God. Amazing. So, when can we discuss the book? July 31? Can't wait!

Changed

Girls,
Just so you can be even more excited and anxious about reading The Shack, I bought it at 10pm Wednesday night last week at the beach and finished it by dinner on Thursday.  I devoured the book.  It was one of the most incredible, tangible, and real, even though fictional, books I have ever read about God.  I literally could not put it down.  I would take a few minutes of a break and then have to know what was going on with Mack, the main character.  It is difficult as you read to separate the factual, biblical truths from the encompassing, fictional story, but that is what makes it so powerful; that it is totally within God to be all that is personified in the book.  I say tangible because as I was reading, it was one of the first times I have really felt that a parental, friendly, close relationship with God could be "real" for me, as in conversations and experiences that we share. It is also a very forgiving book, allowing my soul to breathe in relief. You will definitely find parts that speak to you immediately and some that you will want to read again in a second reading of the book.  I did not read it with a pen or highlighter at first, but I encourage you to, because sometimes the first impact of what is shared is the strongest. I will not share any details, but I will tell you my relationship and realization of God is changed.

Instructions to Post

Ok... so I just realized what we need to do here. EVERY one of you can click on this link and can make a post... all 11 of us (once you create an account). So, I just made a "comment" on Chandlers last post because I was replying to what she had to say. So I guess if you want to "make a point" or start a new topic about the book, or have a question, or whatever then make a new post. But if you are just commenting on what someone else said then leave a comment at the bottom of their post. To make a new post click in the top right hand corner "new post". To leave a comment click on "comment" at the bottom of the post. Make sense? Also, read this below because I accidentally left it as a comment but wanted everyone to read it because I wanted to know what you thought?

I am looking forward to reading it! Soooo, even though many of you have already finished, should we just say everyone needs to finish by July 31st? Or sooner? I'm up for whatever. Who is choosing the next book? I guess just whoever has one to recommend then pipe in! I am SOOO excited to do this with y'all! Miss you all already!

Leave comments to this if you have any suggestions to what I mentioned.

Also, when you post, be sure to leave a title at the top.

Just finished it...

Thanks Ashley! I love the theme and the colors....I just finished reading the book and I am thrilled that we have decided to actually make this book club a reality. Although you might not agree with everything the author writes, I believe that it will have an impact on the way you view God and the circumstances in your life. My prayer for each of you, as it has been for myself, is that it will lead you to pursue him more, especially in the times that cannot be explained. I had the best time at the beach and look forward to the way this can help each of us stay connected. Love you!!
